Madrid Agreement: European Youth Coordination Network for Climate Change" aims to bring together 60 participants, including 9 Spanish representatives (4 from the organization and 5 from the call), along with 47 individuals from national youth councils focusing on climate change and international non govermental youth organisations focusing on climate action.

The primary objectives of this initiative include:

  • Signing of the Madrid Agreement: This involves convening representatives from each National Youth Council across European countries and notable European youth climate entities to sign the "Madrid Agreement." This agreement serves as a collective commitment to coordinate efforts and positions in youth climate coordination, organizing a European Regional COY, and promoting Local Conferences of Youth (LCOY) across Europe.

  • Strengthening of the Youth Network: Establishing and reinforcing a European youth coordination network for climate change. This aims to foster collaboration among various Youth Councils and climate entities to share best practices and effective strategies.

  • Driving Climate Action: Inspiring and mobilizing European youth to lead initiatives and concrete actions in their local communities. The objective is to encourage active participation in the fight against climate change.

  • Generation of Collaborative Proposals Prior to BONN UNFCCC: Facilitating discussions and collaborative proposal development among participants, focusing on intergenerational responsibility. The aim is to present a formal document serving as a common basis for collaborative proposals before BONN UNFCCC.

  • Advocacy of CJE Priorities in Climate Action: This includes advocating for the mitigation of emissions, adaptation to extreme phenomena, decarbonization of the economy, ocean protection, just transition, and education in sustainability/just transition.

  • Promotion of the ACE Program (Action for Climate Empowerment): This involves promoting climate governance at COPs.

  • Training/Development of Specific Themes such as Just Transition and Education for Just Transition: Providing training and development sessions on specific themes to enhance participants' understanding and capacity in areas like just transition and education.

The methodology employed for achieving these objectives includes:

  • Plenary Meetings: Sessions for presenting and discussing the activity's objectives, as well as formally signing the "Madrid Agreement."

  • Thematic Workshops: Organizing workshops on relevant topics such as the global climate action agenda, preparation for BONN UNFCCC, the Green New Deal, and specific European priorities.

  • Collaborative Document Development: Facilitating collaborative work sessions for drafting formal proposal documents, ensuring diverse voices and perspectives are included.

  • Continuous Engagement: Establishing mechanisms for continuous follow-up and engagement of participants, including the creation of a representative youth group at the national level to maintain coordination and pressure at higher levels.

  • Dissemination and Awareness: Utilizing media and digital platforms to disseminate results, proposals, and commitments generated during the activity, thereby increasing awareness of youth climate action in Europe.

  • Meeting with Decision Makers: Facilitating a meeting in a relevant political space, such as a ministry, senate, or congress, for final debate and agreement signing.

The schedule comprises various components, including initial training sessions on different UNFCCC topics, working groups during the event, and a parliamentary event on May 22nd to finalize amendments to the Madrid Agreement, with the presence of Minister of Youth and Minister of Ecological transition of Spain.
